1940: Nothing very exciting happened. Miss Prowse's class behaved like little angels. I enjoyed the boy's football.
------
1941: Down town and wandered - without any words still! Washed hair in after. Out in evening, visited B [Beryl] for a little. Packed. Feel rather sad at leaving B for last time in her unmarried state - she's developed a lot.
------
1942: Another child sick! Class behaved beautifully today, just for once and I enjoyed lessons. Fount in a very good humour for once. H [Hilda] and I had tea after school, and then I went home for weekend. Gassed rest of evening.
------
1943: 2nd lesson with Eric Thiman - wish I were more intelligent and less dumb! Wandered round Finchley and returned on 102 bus thro' Muswell Hill. Cleaned room in after. B and I went to see 'Lady Hamilton', and then I stayed with her as Sheila is away.
------
1944: Intended to work in evening but only cooked - it does take a time.

1940: Quite a nice day. B [Beryl] went to Weston by the 715 for the weekend so am alone - rather nice just by way of a change. Went to Wellington by car to the dentist and had tooth temporarily stopped. Started to make frock. Lucy came round in evening.
------
1942: Up early-ish! after playing with Ron, and left about 9:45. Started off on Trolley [trolleybus, a trackless tram] but electricity failed at Camden Town, so Tubed to Tott Ct Rd [Tottenham Court Road] and met Renee. Had snack and they saw me off at Padd [Paddington]. R is very nice and tog they're very sweet as sisters. I felt awful as usual at leaving H [Hilda], I think she'd like me back. Met B at Reading and arr home 7:45.
------
1942: My class's good behaviour has not lasted till this week, little blirs [blighters]. Pelted in evening. B and I began the Latymer keep fit, quite good fun.
------
1943: Tried to work in evening but couldn't, so washed hair instead.
------
1944: H and I had just got to the Cambridge at 8pm and I said 'Wouldn't it be funny if the siren went now' and it did - ! Several doodles over, but not on us, thank goodness. Took dancing with the club.
