Joan's Card Games
Joan's diary regularly speaks very fondly of evenings spent playing games with her friends. She records being introduced to Monopoly in 1940, which she describes as 'a topping game'. Darts was another favourite of hers which she never appears to tire of, despite continually losing to others.
Every once in a while, someone would produce a new game such asShop Missus or Scoop. But more often than not, they would settle down to play cards for the evening.
Each of the six cards to the left reveals a card game which is named in the diary. Hover your cursor over the cards to turn them over and read the specific diary entry - then, if you would like to know more, click on the name of the game for playing instructions. |
